I'm here again, staring out the door.

The grass is covered in the dew from freshly fallen rain. It'll be dry by morning, the air is always so dry during the day here.

The stars shine, and the moon reflects off the grass, making it sparkle just like the sky.

It would be so easy to just leave. So why can't I?

I go back upstairs. My brothers, my parents, they're all asleep. Nobody would ever know if I just went outside for five minutes.

But it's an unspoken rule. Don't leave the house when nobody's awake, or it'll be assumed you're doing something illegal.

It's frustrating. I just want to lay outside under the stars, I just want to see what a taste of freedom feels like. I want to run in grass filled with dew drops, I want to climb trees with only moonlight to guide me, I want to feel the cold chill in the wind only winter and nighttime can bring.

If I could just get the guts to leave..

No. I made a promise. I stick with my promises as long as I remember them, and I remember this one well. I can't leave the house at night, and I can't leave my brothers behind until they're old enough to be free. I'm bound by my word.

But my word is starting to look more and more like ropes tying me down every time I look out at the night.

  • More instruments and effects would make this tip top

    • When the volume gets too loud the audio loses quality and makes unpleasant sounding noises. On the volume measurer, make sure the track doesn't hit the red markings, or the audio will 'clip'.

    • Thank you, I will try to figure these out- what do you mean by clipping? Is it the rough sounding noise that harmonies make sometimes?

    • Reverb simulates sound bouncing off of walls. Sound without reverb doesn't feel natural and sticks out a lot more. Delay is an echo, it we replay the sound at x seconds later. Also the audio is clipping, use a compressor or lower the volume.

  • This is great, i love the melody, i would recommend experimenting with effects and stuff, if you use them right it'll make your songs sound much more polished, and add a lot more variety to them

    • ah yeah that makes sense. I'll add that in at some point, thank you!

    • For this type of music the reverb effect is the best imo

    • Thank you! Are there any effects you especially reccomend? I don't know how to use them
