TINYGAIN 08: Leaving the Nest

A brand new, young producer gets a copy of FL Studio (definitely through 100% legal means) and begins creating their first songs. They’re not much, but they’re a start. The producer begins posting their music on Soundcloud, and what do they get? Radio silence, maybe a bot favorite. Audiotool serves as a simple and encouraging starting place for any new producer -- I’d argue it’s one of the best starts any artist can get. It’s easier to get your music heard on Audiotool than anywhere else, in addition to being able to learn directly from the songs and artists you love. While many users doubt their potential, there’s three artists who’ve shown that building a career from a start on Audiotool is far from impossible. They may have moved on, but they couldn’t have done it without this community.

acloudyskye / iii

While acloudyskye may not have as many quantifiable accomplishments as some others, I believe his artistic growth since his departure from Audiotool has undoubtedly been the most substantial. It wouldn’t take long for acloud to develop his signature sound and blossom into one of the site’s most creative and beloved producers. From 2017-2018, acloud was on a prolific creative streak; releasing superb tracks back-to-back both on his main account and, unbeknownst to us at the time, his alt-account iii. 2017 was the year I joined Audiotool, and hearing his music as a clueless, newbie producer left a mark on me that inspires my music to this day. Acloudyskye has put out 4 albums in the past 5 years outside of Audiotool, and they show development and potential that seems to be endless. He absolutely deserves the love and respect he’s garnered inside and out of our community. [[embed:https://www.audiotool.com/track/z219un2rl/]]

Xavi

Xavi has gone from one of Audiotool’s most respected and well-recognized artists to a successful touring producer. From an early stage, Xavi seemed to have a heightened sense for creating compelling, skillfully-crafted EDM. In just two years he was one of the site’s most standout producers. Similarly to acloudyskye, it wouldn’t take much longer for Xavi to start honing in on his own unique style. He would become responsible for several tracks that I’d say remain as Audiotool classics. 2015 was an especially productive and impressive year for Xavi’s legacy on Audiotool; he released numerous tracks that still sound fantastic, despite how powerful the studio has become today. Xavi’s retirement from Audiotool was somewhat slow-going, but in his absence he’s established a reputable career in the larger music business. He’s doing live performances regularly, collaborating with top electronic producers, and amassing a respectable following. In a few years’ time, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was winning awards. ford.

Without question, Ford (stylized as ford. ) boasts the most impressive achievements of any artist who got their start on Audiotool. Let’s see: performances at multiple festivals including Coachella, a member of ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective, over half a million monthly Spotify listeners, airtime on acclaimed radio stations, and a Grammy nomination in 2019 for Best Remixed Recording. It's still hard to believe. Ford got lucky, absolutely, but that does not take away from his skill as an artist. It was clear quite quickly that Ford knew what direction he wanted to go. Going through his entire profile it’s evident that he had a style in mind, and he spent his time on Audiotool simply improving his production. His work has influenced the hip-hop sphere on Audiotool even today. He was well-admired in his era on Audiotool and has been fortunate enough to achieve a level of success most of us could never imagine.
