New Fake Music Genres

Had this silly idea, so might as well.

You can share a thought up music genre here. Add a short description about the specifics that make up the genre, so, unique features, such as tempo, sound-design, sound characteristics etc.

If you want to, you can try to create these in the studio of course.

Eg.: Neuronoise D'n'B - Is a subgenre of neurofunk, heavily utilizing noise elements in its sound-design. It aims to create atmosphere and heavy drops using non-standard tonality, harmony and heavily processed field recordings and/or noisy synthesized sounds.

Have fun.

  • This style or subgenre technically already exists and comes from the strange crossover of people who made digicore/dariacore and hyperpop and now create shoegaze and other rock genres now. Who comes to mind is Jane Remover and quannnic. I can't remember the channel that came up with the genre, but they named it zoomergaze. I found zoomergaze sounds a bit silly, therefore, I propose a few other names for the genre: screengaze or digigaze. For a more inclusive/umbrella term, I suggest: digirock.

    • i know exactly what channel ur talking about. ppl label everything and anything with gaze or core though so if it already exists u can still make it ur own js becuase of how expanisive it all is ..

  • speedswarm, which is just a random genre i made up that's just experimental rawness where everything has a sudden speed to it, with lots of panning and then random stops and slowness before it speeds itself up again idk lol

    • You know what would be crazy? If this genre had a strong live performance aspect to it. Like an extremely demanding and super confusing performance with actually very strictly defined guidelines for the tracks or even strict music notation lmao.

    • Not entirely sure how that would translate into music, but I get it. Actually has some interesting implications.

  • Derangedcore

Basically a subgenre of hardcore that is absolutely psychotic and sounds like a musician just had a massive mental breakdown. So many elements going off at once and following some strange and absolutely chaotic rhythm, as if someone put a piano in the worst part of the worst psych ward in the world. If people actually start trying to make songs that fall under this category, we'd probably be in for a ride of a lifetime.

  • gothic dnb... need i say anymore

  • Cognitive Alignment Initialization (CAI):

Any sort of music that is designed purely to force an emotional state onto someone, often-times combined with a strong urge to do something such as sleep or do homework. Also should be able to cut off extraneous mental functions and boost other functions, for example: replacing the ability to feel emotions with the ability to double your multitasking power or make you able to excel in things you'd normally be a failure in (of course, this "overclocking/alignment" would be temporary, lasting until there is no more music).

    Cognitive Alignment Perpetuation (CAP):

Any sort of music that is able to keep a cognitive alignment active, no matter what the alignment is. Well, perhaps there would be a specific "polarity", but whatever.

I really hope people try this out, see if they can musically rebalance the brains of listeners to enable special effects such as the removal of stress or the boosting of mental work capacity. If this turns out to be possible, the world might see another scientific revolution of some kind. By the way, it is likely to be hard to do. There is a mental state I call a "productivity trance" and it is induced musically. It is a bit hard to find music that causes it, however some artists here have unintentionally mastered the art of this sort of inducement, such as Call Me Lito and Snadbrugen.

    • Boutta start doing heavy research on brain waves and how to make music using them

    • Listening to deadmau5 unlocks that for me, currently. What works about it is the upbeat character, general lack of strong complexity and timbrally a very gradually evolving structure. Vocals are a no-go though, so are strong emotions like melancholy. It also helps if you know the tracks, but aren't too bored of them. You know what to exprect, so it doesn't steal your concentration too much.

    • I like the idea. There's a lot you can do with music and it certainly has impact on your mental state, no matter whether you want to or not. Still, focus and productivity are a very complex phenomenon, and it differs from person to person, so yeah it would be difficult. I think there's some truth to this and could be scientifically justified much more than for example the so-and-so Hz healing music. As far as I know there's quite some research done on this topic and would be interesting to delve into. As said though, cognitive processes are complex and it wouldn't be a 100% all-in-one solution imho. Combining initiation of some mental state like this with some physical activity could help a lot though.

  • UPPERCASE (alternatively: "CAPS LOCK"): is a subgenre of noise music and ambient lowercase music that uses field recordings and quiet sounds that are used in lowercase, but these sounds are then heavily processed, distorted and amplified. It aims to create harsh atmospheres, but may use tonal elements to create a more serene feel. Tempos are usually slower in nature, but not specifically defined, due to the live/performance aspect of the genre.

  • 'Nother one (might already be a completely different thing, but eh):

Speedstep - a subgenre of Dubstep combining the Brostep style with Speedcore, Drum'n'bass and glitch elements. It is usually in the range of 300 to 600 BPM with kicks and snares placed where it would hit relatively regularly in halftime, or in this case, double to quadruple-halftime (every 2nd to 4th bar) while other percussion elements and basses follow a much more rapid tempo.
